Winterizing your Fig Tree

As the cold weather approaches, your Fig Tree will shed its leaves. This is the time to provide winter protection.  Stake your tree, so that the branches are secure.  Then wrap with burlap, tar paper, or newspaper.  Do not use plastic because this will trap moisture.  Cover the structure with an inverted pail to sheild the rain.  Keep wrapped until Spring.
