Orchids and Orchid Pots

Orchids are easier to care for than most people imagine.  These exotic beauties do best when planted in orchid pots, which are specially designed with holes or open areas to allow the flow of oxygen to the plant's roots. Since orchids get their nutrients from the air, not soil, this air flow is essential.  It is also for this reason that orchids are planted not in a dense medium, like potting soil, but in a special orchid planting mix, such as Hoffman's Fir Bark.
