Cheese - Spring 2008

Spring has arrived at Sickles Market and the Cheese department has some delicious cheeses for all your spring celebrations as well as for your own enjoyment after a day of digging in the garden. Our experienced Cheese Mongers have developed a selection of some of the most outstanding and phenomenal American artisanal cheeses that no one else in the area is carrying. Stop in and ask for a taste of these great American cheeses!

• Pleasant Ridge Reserve – It was named Best in Show (out of 750 cheeses) at the 2005 American Cheese Society Conference. This great cow’s milk cheese is sweet and nutty with a firm, grainy paste. It is crafted in the likeness of the great French & Swiss Mountain cheeses. One taste and you will know why it is a winner!

• Cowgirl Creamery – Red Hawk is a washed rind, hand-crafted organic cow’s milk triple crème that is smooth, creamy and wonderful! Mt. Tam is also a delightfully creamy cow’s milk triple crème without the washed rind. Both come from Marin County in California. They are the perfect cheeses for your spring celebrations.

• Redwood Hill Farms – Camellia is another cheese from the northern coast of California. It is a lovely goat’s milk camembert with a soft, luscious paste and a deliciously goaty taste. California Crottin is a local take on the French crottin favorite.

• Antigo Cheese Company – Stravecchio Parmesan - It is a 20 month old cow’s milk cheese that is sweet and nutty and utterly delicious! Another great cheese from Wisconsin!
