Earth Day and Victory Gardens for the Win!

Earth Day is recognized each year on April 22nd, and since the first year in 1970 the day has grown to be a global event and instrumental to promote our one planet, one destiny vision.  Earth Day 2020 marks the 50th year, and comes at a time when we are all spending more time at home.  So this year in the Garden Center we are thinking about growing big, and thinking about a way we can all help with Victory Gardens.

Victory Gardens arose during the World Wars of the last century, when domestic resources were spread thin to support troops abroad.  It is thought that as many as 20 million Americans planted vegetable gardens during those years, growing as much 40% of the country’s fresh produce. Starting a Victory Garden today would be a safe way to bring food into your home, but also a fun way to relax and enjoy the outdoors.  In our community we can grow delicious fruits like blueberries, fresh herbs like basil and rosemary, and vegetables like tomatoes, eggplants, and squash.  Imagine the many meals that would benefit from your Victory Garden,

Don’t know how to begin or what you need?  Come to our Garden Center where our team will be happy to help put together a plan.  We have the tools, seeds, and experience that you need.  After all, we’ve been farming this area since before the first Victory Gardens!
