Domaine du Salvard, Cheverny Blanc
2019 | Loire Valley, France | Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay Domaine du Salvard has been a working domaine since 1898, through five hardworking generations. They have carried on producing a true, classic Cheverny that is simple and elegant. They grow fresh, lively Sauvignon Blanc, deeply rooted in the sand, clay, and limestone plains of northeastern Touraine. Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Cot constitute their red grape holdings, creating youthful reds with great aromatics. The Cheverny Blanc has been described as a junior Sancerre with intense gooseberry crispness. A pale lemon-yellow in the glass. Delicate, fragrant aromas of citrus fruits, green orchard fruits and hazelnuts. On the palate, dry yet expansive with a reasonably full body. The flavors are clean and refreshing leading to an aromatic finish. The balance between the zesty Sauvignon and the rounder Chardonnay works very well.
